Let there be light

The LED light strips are all attached to the back of the panels and in working order! Even from the back side they glow bright!

Getting acquainted with the back side of our piece

Okay, this is taking much longer than we had expected. The LED strips can only be connected in one direction even though they look about the same going either way, and the clips they sell don’t work for our needs so we had to make our own attaching device. Good news is that we left plenty of time in case we needed a few extra days so we will still be finished by next Friday, and we got more than enough length of the LED strips so we don’t have to be stingy about our lights! This is going to be absolutely beautiful!

Lights

Our lighting specialist is here! Look how skinny those LED strips are- they are attached to the back side of our mesh panels with small white plastic boards. We can’t wait to test the lights and see the panels lit up!

LED sample strips made our plastics glow and pulse as if the piece is breathing. We are very excited! It’s going to be beautiful!

Covered!

All 11 mesh sections are covered with plastic objects now. Our next step is to keep switching out some objects and adding layers to create and enhance a sense of motion and flow. Our lighting specialist will come and wire the LED strips together next weekend. Light photos coming soon!

Visitors

The Imagination Station is hopping with school groups with kids from all over the United States. They were very interested in our toys, especially the big purple water gun.

Making progress despite shortage of plastics

8 of our 11 panels are now mostly covered with plastic objects. We still need more long, curved pieces to add the sense of motion and flow to all the panels and to fill the gaps between other pieces for better coverage. We are making progress!
